THE ONE AND ONLY silver lining to Sandy's ravages as far as I can see, is that they've given the talking heads of mainstream media (and the rest of us) a diversion from the presidential election.
That said, anyone reading this who is in the throes of Sandy's lingering chaos, my heart goes out to you.
On another note: It's official! I wanted to give all of you, my faithful friends and awesome cheering section, the good news. I have signed with a publisher! Although I don't have a target release date yet, my memoir will be out sometime in the first half of 2013! I couldn't be happier.
Recently, I looked back at my records and since 2010, I've sent out roughly 240 invitations to both literary agents and Independent Publishers asking them to take on humble little me. (!) Multiple rejections and even more non-responses have been discouraging. But you, dear readers have been my light at the end of the tunnel and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. You're awesome. Consider yourself hugged! Consider yourself crowned and knighted. You're royalty.
As a thank you, I know it's not much but I thought I'd offer a little teaser. You're hereby invited to take a peak at some of images I discuss directly or indirectly in my memoir. The first three "boards" on my Pinterest page are where you'll find them.
If you've got time, I'd love it if you'd have a look-see and come back and comment. Do you remember these things from your past?
To make the job of toggling to Pinterest and back again as easy as possible, rather than clicking on the link below, copy it and open another tab on your browser and paste it. That way you won't have to lose your spot here. You can just toggle back. Did that make sense?

Next time: I'm in the process of drafting the promotional copy for the back of the book. I will be posting it here and asking for your feedback, yay or nay. Thanks good friends.

ReplyDeleteOh Grace! I could not be more happier for you dear friend. How exciting. I am off to check out those Pintrest images. LOL!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! Congratulations!!! I checked out your boards - the dollhouses brought back memories! I never got a fancy one, but we made our own for our Little Kiddles (remember them?). Made them from shoeboxes (decorating and stacking for multiple floors), which were pretty cool. : )
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled for you!
ReplyDeleteSome of your comments on Pinterest brought back some painful memories of the 'things aren't always what they seem' variety. I'm O.K. though as I had a lovely time in the greenhouses and cottages section-dreamy.
I like that you use the word "invitations." And my gosh, 240 of them? A lot of publishers missed an opportunity. You never know when they are going to be reading an invitation. It may have been before coffee or after a night of drinking, say, a few glasses of very spiteful wine. It's good to know that someone had the good sense to accept your invitation. Congrats to you and good luck.
ReplyDeleteso so so so excited for you Grace. I can't wait to buy it. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to nominate it for my book group next summer. Wouldn't that be fun?!!!
